Hi everyone. Well, I had some thinking to do before I did this video because I could either give you a book review of 6:40 to Montreal. 6:40 to Montreal, which I love this book. This is compulsive reading. I got to tell you, I’m just going to put that cover right up there so, you can see, right?

There you go. Yeah, you can see that it’s the best I can do on a Kobo. So anyway, without just inserting the photo, which is just more editing for me. So anyway, I was just going to say, I love this book so much. I will do a review instead of talking about what a crap weekend I had and the reasons why Saturday or no, Sunday was just a bear for me. I’ll get into those reasons in another video. Something about internet addiction.
I’m an internet addict, I think. I cannot stay offline, and I know why now because of this book [It Doesn’t Have to Hurt by Sanjay Gupta, MD]. Ironically, which will not reduce my pain, of course. Well, okay, let me rephrase that. It is possible that these techniques will help reduce my pain. I know because I’ve employed them, they have in fact helped. It helps me to get acupuncture. It helps my entire mood. Now, this is turning into the other video I was going to make. I’ll talk about that in the other video. First, let’s talk about 6:40 to Montreal. Yeah, I really, really enjoyed this book. I mean, I was just flipping, click, click, click. I got to get through this. This is something else. See how this resolves because what this is is a story told like 15 minutes at a time, which is, or half an hour sometimes, which is really cool.
Which is really interesting because I wrote something on Substack that goes backwards. Or maybe it was actually on one of my blogs, but I also put it on Substack. Anyway, did I also put it on Patreon? I don’t remember now. Maybe it’s not on Patreon. Maybe I should put it there. I don’t know. I don’t know if it’s any good. I mean, I just had fun. I just had fun writing it, and it’s a story told backwards and it employs every cliche you can possibly imagine other than a femme fatale from the hard-boiled mystery genre. There’s a guy walking through a door with a gun taken from the book of Raymond Chandler. You know what I’m saying? He said, when nothing’s happening, have a guy walk in with a gun. Things will happen. Okay, in the room with a gun. Yeah, whatever.
So anyway, 6:40 to Montreal, I’m rambling. 6:40 to Montreal is so much fun. The protagonist is a woman going to Montreal. I won’t tell you why, because really to say almost anything about this book is saying too much. Let’s just say that someone dies under mysterious circumstances. A rival of hers is on the train. They’re stuck. They get stuck in the snow. It’s like, I don’t know, it’s a little like Murder on the Orient Express. If the Orient Express had been stranded in the snow, kind of. [It’s been so long since I’ve seen that movie, I forgot they got stuck in the snow.] It’s just very different and interesting and compelling reading.
They’re stuck in the snow. She makes commentary about the people that it’s just hysterical. I mean, her commentary on people is just so funny. Her description of Dorcas, the attendant in the train, this bouncy chirpy attendant. You find out something about her that just is like, oh boy, okay. You start to wonder about everybody on this train really, because you’re in this woman’s head wondering with her. But at the same time, I’m also looking at it as a writer and thinking, wow, this woman assumes, boy, this woman seems to have all sorts of weird suspicions about people. Why is she so, thinking all these things? She’s so … what’s the word? I don’t know.
She sees the negatives in people so much, and I thought, is that something we always do? Do we assume the worst sometimes when we’re approaching a person or a thing? And the interesting part is I’m also, I think in this book in, oh, going into this book again, no, don’t go there yet, but this is a really interesting psychological study in so many ways. And there’s also her marriage is at stake. That’s all I’ll say. The end. Compulsive reading. Do check it out. Eva Jurczyk. I hope I said that right. J-U-R-C-Z-Y-K. Anyway, Eva Jurczyk, what a story. I enjoyed it greatly. Though I would say, oh, and this is a minor spoiler, so if you don’t want to hear a minor spoiler, stop listening. Shut this off. That husband, if he has uneven legs, he really needs to get something to even that out. That is going to affect his whole body. It does. I’m speaking from experience here. There I said it.
So review of 6:40 to Montreal and a little bit about my crap weekend, which I will talk about eventually because I have a challenge for you. A challenge that I hope you will enjoy and take part in because I think it’s very, very important and challenging. Alright then I will be seeing you. Thanks for watching. See you.
