rachel weiss is the actress in constant gardner, yes she expresses layers of subtext that v few other actors can. v nice interview with curtis, a life in mayotte is as valuable as one in paris or ny, despite the fact that nobody knows where mayotte is. stunning comparison of deaths of migrants crossing sea with those trying to access europe. good interview, one learnt a lot, nice guy the writer, v coherent. Listened to the whole audio podcast and enjoyed it very much. Curtis is a very eloquent speaker, and I wish him great success with his recent book. I’m now been inspired to read them!

Awesome! 🙂 I’m reading the first book and enjoying it greatly.
Fascinating insight into the making of a crime novel. Curtis seems to have brought much life experience to his writing – and the Mayotte component is especially interesting (like many people, I had no idea this place even existed!). It’s also really encouraging to learn that, even though edging towards darker themes, there is still humour in the writing. Will definitely read these! Carol Pease.
I know! I learn a lot by doing these interviews. I didn’t know anything about Mayotte before this, either. Thanks for listening! 🙂
A fascinating interview, showing how a writer can take an apparently random source, realise a theme and then produce a plot and gripping narrative.
I have read One Green Bottle with pleasure and look forward to Perfume Island and further sequels.
Detective fiction is a difficult genre and I salute a newcomer.
I’m reading One Green Bottle and look forward to reading the next book!
What a delightful interview! Thank you Debbi Mack. I’ve worked online with Curtis for the last couple of years but had never seen or heard him. As enjoyable as it was informative!
Thanks! Glad to hear you enjoyed the interview! 🙂
