This week, I recommend reading two nonfiction books by Crime Cafe guest, Peter Eichstaedt.

One is called The Dangerous Divide. The Dangerous Divide is about the situation at the US-Mexico border and immigration issues, that kind of thing. And Above the Din of War. Both of these books deal with international issues and are extremely important reading. I’m highly recommending these.

Above the Din of War is about the war in Afghanistan and about the country of Afghanistan. And it’s one of the best things I’ve ever read about the subject. And it’s giving me a whole new perspective, since I’m writing about a female Marine in my latest fiction who has fought in Afghanistan or done other things as well. But I can’t say enough good things about these books. Peter Eichstaedt does an excellent job of presenting the issues on both sides.

For instance, in The Dangerous Divide, he talks to Border Patrol. He talks to immigrants, he talks to everybody, and tries to get all sides of the issue. And he does this in Above the Din of War, as well. He shows a true love for the countries that he inhabits. And I think that’s just wonderful. But, at the same time, he tries to look at everything from both sides. He does a very good job of journalism. That’s what it comes down to. It’s excellent journalism. So I really do highly recommend these books if you want to feel more informed about either of these issues, which is always a good thing.

Thanks. And I’ll talk to you later.
