Hi! Today, I’m going to just give you a few of my thoughts on this book.
Edgar Allen Poe: Complete Tales & Poems. Yeah, this is the thickest book I’ve ever gotten out of the library. When I picked this up, I happened to be there for a meeting of a community group, and the guy sitting next to me said, “Are you really going to read all of that?” And I said, “Well, probably not.” And my prediction turned out to be true. I did not read all of the stories and poems in here.
However, the purpose, the reason I got the book was because it had this particular story I was looking for that I couldn’t find anywhere else. So I got it. And I got to tell you, I never really appreciated how good Edgar Allan Poe was until I read some of the work in this book. And it’s, some of it is stuff you won’t find anywhere else. I swear. I have three copies at this point of The Complete Works of Edgar Allen Poe, which do not include stories that are in this book. So it’s, they aren’t the complete works, but they’re the, the works that most people know about, I think. You know, the usual, “Nevermore” and all that.
I just, I fell in love with this guy after reading this book. I mean, I fell in love with his writing after reading some of the stories in here and was just amazed by it. So this is kind of an endorsement for Edgar Allan Poe in general, as well as this book in particular. If you’re looking for stories you can’t find anywhere else that he wrote. And that was all I had for today. So I’ll talk to you later.
PS: Correction: I actually have three copies of The Portable Poe, which is far less than complete, but really good.
